5 Reasons To Enroll Your Kids In Martial Arts!

Fall is the perfect time to enroll your child in martial arts!

With school started again, and kids getting back into a regular schedule, it’s a great time to consider enrolling in a martial arts program for all the great benefits it can bring your child. Here are five great reasons for getting your child involved in martial arts this Fall:

1. Physical Activity

It’s important to stay active, whether as an adult or a child. And today, more than ever, it is easy for physical activity to get overlooked. There is less of it at school, and often there is less at home. Training in martial arts is a great way for kids to get into physical activity, burn off any excess energy (in a way that doesn’t involve tearing up the house!), and teaches important life skills along the way.

2. Verbal Skills

Think martial arts is just about punching and kicking? Think again! Our program teaches verbal skills so that even our youngest students know how to use the right words to decrease the chance of violence and bullying happening, increase the likelihood that if bullying does happen they have a powerful voice as one more tool for creating peace, and they know how to articulate their wants and needs in clear, precise ways.

3. Confidence

With physical and verbal skills to support them, students of martial arts have greater confidence, are less likely to resort to violence out of fear, and are more able to create an empowered experience of life. Being able to look a person in the eye and speak in a confident, capable manner not only reduces the possibility of being bullied (nothing, unfortunately, completely eliminates that possibility) but also sets up the foundation of many future successes.

4. Concentration

Part of being successful in school, and even later in life at work as an adult, is being able to know when it’s okay to let your mind wander, and when you need to be focused on the task at hand. The great news is this is a skill that can be learned and practiced. Our training includes practicing how to focus on the right thing at the right time, leading to an overall increase in concentration not only in martial arts training, but at home and at school!

5. Fun and Adventure!

Learning useful skills are important, but it’s hard for young students to keep coming back to class if there isn’t a lot of fun as well. (Let’s face it, it works the same for adults too!) Our classes are high energy, engaging and a whole lot of fun! Video games are entertaining, but in martial arts training, you get to be the video game! And you learn something very valuable along the way.
